Drivers get a check-engine light and often open-loop or limp fueling feel—rough idle after warm-up, poor mileage, sometimes a sulfur smell if the mixture goes rich as a fail-safe. Freeze frame is usually a hot idle or cruise where B1S1 voltage sits flat for the monitor window.
Shop order: failed upstream sensor (open element or dead heater that never brings it online), then unplugged or open harness after underbody work, then exhaust leaks so large the sensor breathes only air and never switches. Next: blown fuse or open heater circuit that keeps the sensor cold, signal shorted to a bias voltage, or rare ECM bias/input faults. Distinguish from P0133: no activity is flatline; slow response still moves, just late.
