Approach it as a circuit rather than a part: back-probe the connector for supply and ground, then scope the raw pattern while cranking to see whether pulses are present, ragged, or absent altogether. Reluctor rings crack, tone wheels work loose, and debris packed on the sensor tip is obvious once the sensor is out. Capture crank and cam waveforms together as well, because a stretched timing chain that shifts their correlation will set this code alongside a camshaft fault.
